Leclaire was a French businessman and profit-sharing pioneer in the early to mid 19th century. The model community of Leclaire in Edwardsville, Illinois founded by N.O. Nelson in 1890 was named after Edme-Jean Leclaire and operated based on Leclaire's profit sharing principles.
